Support Breast Cancer Research and Earn AAdvantage Miles

Pink Ribbon

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and just like they’ve done in years past, American is offering an AAdvantage Miles bonus when you donate money to Susan G. Komen for the Cure:

Many AAdvantage members have supported this quest through our ongoing Miles for the Cure fundraising program via Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which rewards you with AAdvantage miles for every dollar donated.

Please join us. For your donations to make an even greater impact and to recognize your generosity, throughout the month of October, we’ll award 15 miles – instead of 10 – for each dollar raised to support breast cancer M.D. Anderson.

From the terms and conditions:

Offer valid on contributions made online at
• Offer valid 9/22/12 through 10/31/12
• Minimum $25 donation required
• Mileage cap for a 12-month period is 60,000

    • @ Cd – That’s a good question, I’m glad you asked. You have to subtract the value of the miles. Here’s a link to the AAdvantage / Susan G. Komen donation page that explains how it’s calculated:

AmericanAirlines will award you fifteen AAdvantage® bonus miles for each dollar you donate through the Miles for the Cure™ campaign. Each donor can earn a maximum of 60,000 miles in a twelve-month period. For charitable deduction purposes, each mile is valued at 2.75 cents per mile if fewer than 6,000 miles are awarded and 2.5 cents per mile if 6,000 or more miles are awarded.

      Thanks for bringing it up!
