Reader Giveaway: AAdvantage Miles for Kids and Readers

win

I mentioned this the other day, but while I was on vacation American kicked off a new promotion to raise miles and awareness for the American Airlines Kid in Need Program.  From the AAdvantage Facebook page:

Join us to help give smiles with American Airlines AAdvantage miles, benefiting the American Airlines Kids in Need program!

Our Smile Meter fills up when you register and share – one smile for registering and up to two smiles for sharing. Each smile equals one AAdvantage mile donated. As the Smile Meter fills up, each goal met triggers a sweepstakes give-away and a donation of up to 100,000 AAdvantage miles!

It’s easy – simply register to automatically earn 100 AAdvantage miles and be entered for a chance to win up to 100,000 AAdvantage miles!

So if you haven’t participated yet, go here to help out and claim your 100 free AAdvantage Miles.

American reports that last year AAdvantage members donated almost 117 million of their unused AAdvantage miles. These miles helped hundreds of children’s organizations and have also been used to provide air transportation to nearly 300 critically ill children, and their parents/guardians, in need of medical treatment.

So to bring attention to a good cause, I’m donating 1,000 AAdvantage Miles to the Miles for Kids program and giving away 1,000 miles to one reader.

To enter all you have to do is look at this list of some of the organizations that benefit from the Miles for Kids program and post their name and something about them in the comments section.

I’ll have a random drawing on Monday. One entry per person. The deadline to enter is Sunday, July 1 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

  1. Most importantly – thanks to everyone who’s donating miles. One of the beneficiaries is Make A Wish Foundation of North Texas – I’m more than a little partial to these guys. We do a lot for them at work, and they did a lot for a co-worker who’s daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer at age 8. 🙁 It’s hard to be a kid going through all that, but they helped. A lot.

  2. Saint Judes research hospital,

I really think that money should go to their amazing research facilities to find cures for deseases !

  3. Helping Hands of (for) Honduras helps rural kids in Honduras with congenital heart disease. The help kids who need surgery get admitted to hospitals in the US in addition to other projects of providing clean water pipelines to rural areas.

  4. The Something mAAgic Foundation is a non-profit organization comprised of volunteers who are current and former employees of American Airlines, American Eagle and American Airlines Federal Credit Union. They support the missions of “Give Kids The World Village” and other children’s organizations to create magical memories for children with chronic or life-threatening medical conditions. (From their website, but couldn’t have summarized it better if I tried.)

  7. Make A Wish Foundation North Texas
I’m a huge fan and supporter of the Make-A-Wish organization, having served on the board locally and also help out on a national committee. What they do for kids and their families is incredibly special and often is a big part of recovery.

  8. The Texas Scottish Rite Hospital is a wonderful Dallas area hospital which specializes in treating children with:
    •Scoliosis
    •Clubfoot
    •Hip dysplasia
    •Limb length discrepancies
    •Hand disorders

  9. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is my choice. I know of atleast four families who have had children treated by the doctors there, from my college days to the present. My brother-in-law was a pharmacist on staff many years ago.

  10. Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has supported the fight against cancer in children and adults at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, helping to raise the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world.
