American issues DFW Travel Advisory: Winter weather in Dallas. Except flight cancellations

I got home last week after almost four weeks on the road. I’m so so thankful not to be traveling this week.

The weather across much of the nation is cold and miserable, and Dallas is no exception.

If you’re traveling today, be aware that DFW had freezing rain last night and early this morning, and we’re under a winter advisory  until noon.

American has already cancelled several flights and they’ve issued the following travel advisory:

Due to weather, American Airlines offers customers the convenience to change their plans. Customers ticketed to travel on AA flights to or from the airports listed may change flights as shown below.

If you are traveling to, through or from:

Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas (DFW)

• On the following dates: November 24 – 25, 2013

• And your ticket was issued no later than: November 22, 2013

• You may travel: November 23 – 26, 2013

• Original inventory required? Yes

The ticket reissue charge will be waived for one ticket change.

To change travel dates, contact our Reservations personnel at 1-800-433-7300 within the United States or Canada.

So check the status of your flight before you head to the airport.

If Dallas is your destination, then it might be less stressful to take a cab rather than get a rental.  And if you do decide to rent a car, make sure you get the collision damage waiver.

Even in good weather, driving in this town is a full contact sport, and we absolutely can’t drive on this icy stuff!

Good luck, stay warm, and safe travels!
