That’s how I found out that American is having a big fare sale to Manaus, Brazil, with fares from many U.S. cities for less than $600. In June, American launched service to Manaus from Miami and to promote the new route they’re offering Double AAdvantage Miles on the Miami to Manaus flight segment!

It’s quite likely you will need to also get a yellow fever vaccine in advance to a trip to Manaus, Amazonas state, something the Brazilian customs agent may hold you accountable for.
The vaccine is either considered mandatory or highly recommended for a handful of Brazilian states, and Amazonas, in the heart of the jungle, has gotta be one.

@ Thomas van Bracht – You’re right. Diplomatic Reciprocity: US entry requirements and steep fees have made us few friends. For us non-Europeans, The Points Guy has a great guide for obtaining a Brazilian visa.

If you spend any time in the Milepoint forums you’ve probably met Eloy da Fonseca Neto. Eloy is from Brazil and lives in Rio. I asked him about Manaus and he said pretty much the same thing. I get the impression that Manaus is the Lubbock of Brazil. 🙂
