  1. I booked a Four Points last night, so I called SPG and asked them to add the SSBMILES code. They have no such code. She thought it may be an “online only” deal, but there’s no mention of that in the T&Cs.

What’s odd is if you click on the “Book Now” button from the AA site, it takes you to Starwood’s site. From there, the code changes from SSBMILES to SSBMLS. When I continued to try and book the same room as I did last night, the promotion was there, but the room costs $20 a night more! Moreover, I have booked the room with Starpoints and I can see no way to redeem the room and get the promo.

In the end, it does seem to be online only from the “Book Now” button, it’s more expensive to book with that code and you can’t combine it with an award night (which, I suppose, makes sense).

Anyone have issues with the code?

  2. Only tried searching from the dedicated site, but I also found that the rates were much higher, more than enough to make up for the extra $20 or so in bonus points. Not worth it for any hotel booking I could find.

  3. This is how Starwood promotions work. You have to enter the special rate code which makes the rate substantially higher than standard rate. Why bother!

  4. Any idea if a night I book with this promo would count toward gold status? If I’m not getting SPG points for the night I’d be concerned it wouldn’t count toward status.
