An AAnecdote about the new American’s incoming Chief Marketing Officer
Dallas Morning News aviation reporter Terry Maxon wrote a story the other day about the announcement that named Suzanne Rubin and six other executives to management positions at the post-merger American Airlines.
He included the text from a letter that current US Airways president (and future new American Airlines president) Scott Kirby wrote to employees at both airlines that outlined the leadership of the new revenue and marketing teams.
Kirby included this anecdote about Andrew Nocella the US Airways marketing chief who will become the Chief Marketing Office of AA after the merger.
“Of particular interest, Andrew sent a note to Bob Crandall in 1984 when he was 15 years old expressing an interest in working for American someday and he keeps the framed reply from Bob on the wall of his office,”.
At the time Robert Crandall was president of American Airlines and would later go on to become the CEO and Chairman.
Terry Maxon’s post also includes a nice nod to Traveling Better forum’s founder, JonNYC (way to go JonNYC!). Go here to read the whole post.
