Recognize the guy in the photo?  He’s Boarding Area blogger Rapid Travel Chai and he’s posing in front of the world’s highest uninterrupted waterfall: Angel Falls.

Venezuela’s Angel Falls is located about 550 miles outside of Caracas in Canaima National Park.   The water drops over the edge of Auyantepui mountain, falling more than  2,600 feet into the Gauja River.

And if you’ve ever wanted to see it, here’s your chance!

American’s Spanish language in-flight magazine, Nexos, is sponsoring a sweepstakes that offers the winner a vacation trip to visit the falls:

Enter to win a trip for two to Angel Falls in Venezuela.

A finalist to be named one of the “Seven Wonders Of The World”, Angel Falls is located in Canaima National Park in Venezuela.

  1. I have two friends who grew up in Caracas and they feel unsafe when they go home to see family. For that reason, and because of stories like yours, Caracas isn’t high on my list of places to visit.

    Thanks for sharing the link.

  2. Evidently you guys didn’t read the post and the offer. AA flies to CCS but then you take a connection to get to Canaima. I’m with you on visiting CCS but Canaima is safe and one of the greatest and most beautiful places in this world.

  3. Mt. Roraima should be on the “to do” list for any adventure traveler. Not yet trampled like Kilimanjaro, Everest Base Camp etc. and a world of mystic beauty from the photos I have seen. There is no need to spend any time in Caracas except as a jumping off point as it is in SE Venezuela. The entire area surrounding Angel Falls sounds like a fantasy world and I for one cannot wait to get there!
