I have been using this offer since the 3000/5000 miles expired if the price is the cheapest. Works each time.
Otherwise I use the Alamo offer ID 7015732 coupon
AD7428SDR for a instant $15 off and 1000 bonus miles with a 3 days rental. Unlike Avis, Alamo posts the miles right after the rental is completed.
@ Richard – Thanks for the comment! I believe the Alamo offer expired 12/31/2012. Have you had any luck using it this year?
I booked with the Alamo code on a recent trip to SFO, pick up Jan 5 – 8am and return Jan 7 – 5pm. Received 1150 AA miles. I also book a car with that code for spring break. Alamo website took the code.
I tried to modify 2 reservations I made just last weekend for cars in Hawaii and it told me the coupon code has expired. Perhaps Hawaii is out-of-bounds? Or it won’t work with modified reservations? I have 2 more cars to reserve for upcoming trips … will try with new reservations.
@ Nick Knight – That’s odd….let me know what happens with the new reservations. Thanks for sharing!
Nope. I get told it has expired on a new reservation, too.
@ Nick Knight – I just made a new 4 day online reservation for ORD for next week. Were your new reservations for HNL?
@ Richard – Wow, thanks for passing along that info! That’s post worthy! 🙂
I booked a mid size at LAS for 10 days on Priceline for $238.65 and Avis was priced at $359.15. I would have had to make three trips back to the airport if I went with the Avis miles promo. Might have been worth it if the Alamo 3000/5000 promo was still going. What do you think?
@ David – That’s a great question. You were better off saving the money. To earn the 5K miles you would have had to spend 2.42 cents per mile to acquire them, unless you’re on an expense account you made a much better choice keeping the $120. Thanks for the comment!
