Double AAdvantage Miles from Fairmont

It’s been a busy week for me: all work and no travel. Which is never any fun.  Fortunately, I’m just a couple of weeks away from my annual August vacation in Canada, so I took a break from working and spent a little time researching hotels and found this Double AAdvantage Miles offer from Fairmont:

Earn Double Miles

Book an Everyone’s an Original summer rate, and earn double miles.

Receive a Free Night OR $150 Credit AND Earn Double Miles

Book before August 17, 2012 at 12:00 PM EST for stays until September 30, 2012.

Fairmont usually offers 500 AAdvantage Miles per stay, so with this offer you’ll earn 1,000 Miles. And not all rates qualify.

The cheapest rate I found for the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City was $261 per night. The lowest price I found under the qualifying rate was $299. So basically it’s $40 per day more for the extra 500 miles.

But there’s also the $150 credit. From the terms and conditions:

150 USD/CAD credit is based on a minimum two night stay and will be applied at time of check-out in equivalent currency of the host hotel. Credit is non-transferrable or redeemable for cash. Free night credit is based on a consecutive minimum night stay and will be applied at time of check-out.

I’m thinking about a two night stay. So if I value the credit at face, and add the bonus miles, I’m paying an extra $80 for $150 credit and 500 miles.

So in my circumstances, it’s not a bad deal. But before you use this offer, you should research the rates.

  1. Please share your travel tips to Quebec. I plan on taking a trip there with my children so that my daughter can spend time with her father’s side of the family.
