With this rollout, AA.com now features travel-related information from Frommer’s for more than 170 domestic and international destinations served by American and American Eagle. Customers can learn more than ever about these great destinations and find the latest travel deals while researching their next trip.
Frommer’s destination information on AA.com includes an exclusive overview of the city, along with recommendations and details about upcoming events in the area. Select cities feature in-depth content about popular restaurants, shopping, nightlife and other attractions. American Airlines travel deals and other customized information pertaining to each destination are also featured.
To promote all that new content, American ia offering a new sweepstakes with the winner receiving 280,000 AAdvantage Miles:
Today, American Airlines invites customers to explore one of five fantastic destinations – New York, Los Angeles, Miami, London and Tokyo – and create the ideal itinerary for a chance to win 280,000 AAdvantage miles (enough for two economy class round-trip tickets to anywhere American flies). The new promotion highlights American’s recent addition of rich online travel content by the experts at Frommer’s Unlimited.
Here’s how it works: Through Dec. 14, 2011, customers can visit www.aa.com/journey and select one of the five destinations to create a virtual itinerary by choosing from a list of various events, restaurants, shopping areas and attractions. With the help of Google Maps API technology, customers are then able to see a street view of their first site where they can zoom in and out and explore the surrounding area. After 15 seconds they are taken to the next portion on their itinerary where they can again zoom in and out and continue to explore.
At the end of their virtual journey, participants can register to win the grand prize of 280,000 AAdvantage miles. They can enter up to three times by completing the virtual itinerary, booking a ticket on AA.com or sharing their itinerary on Facebook or Twitter or via email. Three grand prize winners will be selected.
