This year is going to be a big year for the American Airlines AAdvantage program and so we can expect some exciting promotions and opportunities to earn even more miles. This is from the press release that American issued today:
The American Airlines AAdvantage® program, the world’s first frequent flyer program, turns 30 years old this year and customers can expect to see several special activities to celebrate the occasion.
My big hope for 2011 is that we’ll see the return of a system wide Elite Qualifying Miles promotion (I’m determined to make Executive Platinum at least once), or maybe more triple milage offers from American’s cornerstone hubs to popular destinations (DFW to LGA, or DFW to ORD), and hopefully at least one 1 Million AAdvantage Miles contest.
In my opinion the strength of the AAdvantage program is, and always has been, the ability to actually use your miles. And through the years we’ve seen even more opportunities to use miles, and not just on American Airlines flights but with oneworld partner airlines, and now they can even be used to for car rentals and hotel stays. I’m a member of a couple of other frequent flyer programs, and AAdvantage is easily the best of them.
I’m hoping that in 2011 American continues to improve an already great program. What do you hope to see in the way of improvements or promotions?
