Just in time for your Super Bowl watch party, DIRECTV is offering new customers 7,500 AAdvantage Miles when signing up for service.

I used to be a customer of what was probably the most evil cable company that ever existed: TCI. I once called to report an outage and was told by the customer service agent that it would be 5 -7 days till they could schedule a service call to replace a faulty cable box. That pretty much made a DIRECTV customer out of me.  So after too many years of that kind of service, I made the switch to DIRECTV and have been a happy customer ever since.

I’ve had a good experience the few times I’ve called customer service. Most of my calls have been to upgrade equipment, but once I had to have the satellite dish replaced after a particularly bad Texas storm and the repairman showed up the next day and on time. Enough said.

As for TCI, they were swallowed up by AT&T Broadband (not surprising) and I suspect that their customer support group has now been reassigned to work at AT&T Wireless Customer Service .
