My job doesnt give me the freedom to travel much but when I do, and am flying AA, I always buy lounge passes. Makes the inevitable delay way more pleasant. However, I would recommend getting them off Ebay. They send the same style pass you get direct from AA but for only $15-$20.
Seems like something that would be a nice gift to a infrequent traveler with a long layover. Although it looks like you need to enter the visitor information beforehand… thus if you don’t know who you’d be giving it to at the moment, these would be non transferable?

@ Joe – I purchased an Admirals Club Day Pass for a giveaway on the blog last year and you’re right, you do have to provide the recipient’s name. I took a look at the terms and conditions printed at the bottom of the pass and found this:
