  1. it looks like the merger is off, why would american realese an offer like this if the merger is going to happen and douggy is in charge

  2. That’s insane. I’m changing my UA flights in Oct/Nov to AA and will do an MR for try for Plat.

    Thanks for the info!

  3. I don’t usually get upset at these sorts of things, but this promotion irks me. I’m Ex. Plat. now, but will not even qualify for Plat. for next year. I have an upcoming work trip that would net enough miles to qualify for Plat. through this promotion and with a trip home for Christmas, I’d requalify for Ex. Plat., but I’m not eligible. On top of that, AA has done away with soft landings, so I will only be Gold next year. Thanks, AA.

  4. Switch to us, we’ll give you status faster! If the merger happens, those who got status from this will be folded into the merged FF program; if it doesn’t, they’ll will have a new crop of people with a reason to fly AA over the competition.

I’m already locked in to get CP via Trial Preferred and an insane couple of weeks next month, but I’m seriously tempted to go for AA status as well as a hedge in case the merger fails.

  5. Doesn’t seem to be working for me… Put in my AAdvantage number and the code and it keeps saying:
“The promotional code you entered is not valid. Please contact AAdvantage Customer Service. ”

    Anyone else?

  6. Nope, doesn’t work. I can’t imagine why something that gets promoted on 32535 blogs would get pulled in a nanosecond…

  7. As an EXP through purely BIS miles, I find this infuriating. I understand wanting to get new customers, but this is a ridiculous shortcut.

  8. Haven’t seen Double Elite Miles promotion so far this year? Usually American offers at least one Double Elite Miles offer within second quarter 2013

Airfares of American Airlines are higher than Delta. Someone has to pay for the new aircrafts.

  9. @FALI : I don’t think they had a DEQM or similar promotion last year.
I wonder what will happen to those who managed to register in time for the promotion. No way to follow up if they’re in or not. It may well be that it’s a targeted promotion but the problem with those promotions is that everybody can register and you have no way of knowing if your registration is accepted or not.
