AAdvantage Elite Rewards available for those who qualified

If you earned enough Elite Qualifying Points last year to qualify for American’s 2012 Elite Rewards program then you should have received an email by now to let you know that it’s time to make your selection.

But if you somehow overlooked it, here’s a link to the redemption page that explains how it works and how you can select your reward:

Are you eligible to choose a reward?

  1. In 2013 I won’t be flying much on AA … I earned gold status last year … which reward do you consider most valuable?

  2. @ Shannon – If you can’t make use of the discount, take the miles.

A reasonable estimate for the value of each mile is about 1.8 cents/mile, so 15K AAdvantage miles are worth about $270.

    The 4 upgrades (4 x $30 each) are worth $120.

An Admirals Club day pass is $50, so the 2X rewards is valued at $100.

IF the discount will save you more than $270, go for it. Otherwise, take the miles and use them later to (hopefully) go someplace fun. 🙂

    Thanks for the question.

  3. Thanks. Apparently I didn’t register for Elite Rewards prior to Dec 15, 2012 … it says I’m not eligible. Lesson learned 🙁
