Commercial Scavenger Hunt contest extended: still time to win 200,000 AAdvantage Miles

Updated Commercial Scavenger Hunt

Back in September, American introduced a new contest on Facebook to promote the launch of a their new “Fly without putting your life on pause.  Be yourself nonstop.” advertising campaign.

Contest play was pretty simple: all you had to do was watch three commercials as they debuted over a three week period, and then answer three questions about each video. The contest was supposed to end on October 21. The grand prize: 200,000 AAdvantage Miles and everyone was supposed to get 100 AAdvantage Miles just for playing.

The first video, “After School” was released when the contest started on September 22, and then the next week the second commercial, “Scuba”, was introduced.  Then on October 5, when the the final commercial “Producer” was supposed to be released, nothing happend.  Crickets….

The Commercial Scavenger Hunt contest link was still visible on American’s Facebook page and according to the official rules, the dates hadn’t changed.  But other than a few unanswered questions left on AA’s Facebook wall, there wasn’t an update or mention of the contest.

Then this last Friday, on what was supposed to be the final day of the contest, they updated the contest page with a “Promotion Extended” graphic and with some new info added to the Terms and Conditions:

TO ENTER. Between 04:01 p.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) time on September 21, 2011 and 11:59 p.m. ET time on November 11, 2011 (“Promotional Period”),

1, After School, will be released on September 21, 2011, Commercial 2, Scuba, will be released on September 28, 2011, and Commercial 3, Music, release date TBD.

So basically, the contest has been extended till November 11 and between now and then, a new third commercial (“Music” rather than “Producer”) will be released.

If you haven’t played or if you want to see the updated rules, go here.

On another note…

This is completely off topic, but since it’s Monday and everyone needs a little amusement as they start the work week, here’s a story (with photos) from the Daily Mail in London about a kitten that looks like Hitler: “Heil Kitler! Abandoned puss who looks just like a furry Fuhrer”.  The photos were too funny not to share:-)
